Serverless Apps: Architecture, patterns, and Azure Implementation is a short (55 pages) free ebook. Like the other books in the Microsoft series (.NET Microservices Architecture for Containerized .NET Applications, Modernize existing .NET applications with Azure cloud and Windows Containers, Dapr for .NET Developers, Blazor for ASP.NET Web Forms Developers), the book is easy to read and fun.

The first part of the ebook focuses on classical architectural approaches like monoliths, N-layered architecture, Microservices, etc. The second part focuses on the serverless achitrecutere and the differences between more traditional approaches. The third and final part of the book is about Microsoft's offering of serverless services in Azure, with a focus on Azure Functions, Durable Azure Functions, Event Grid, etc.

Interestingly the book does not cover Container Apps. Even if Microsoft is vocal about calling this new service "serverless containers".

The book does not offer anything new but is a great introduction to serverless architecture and Microsoft's offerings in that area.
